Pre War

On 17 Feb 1930 Norm had married Lilly Amelia Bingham (1911 - 1983) in the local area. Lilly died on 16 Sep 1983, aged 72 in Riverton. H had spent 3 years in the Army Reserve Field Artillery prior to call up. Electoral Roll entry: 1943 at Bunbury road, Armadale, farmer.

War Service

On 3 Apr 1942 at Claremont Norman was called up and allocated to the 3rd (Swan) VDC Battalion where on 8 Feb 1942 he was promoted Sergeant. His Army number at that time was W69524. On 28 Feb 1943 he was transferred to the 2nd (Fremantle) VDC Battalion, and when granted leave for three months commencing 26 Mar 1943 he voluntarily reverted to Private. While on leave he was given a new Army number of W61980. Norman was discharged on 23 Nov 1943
