Pre War
Electoral Roll - 1910 a miner in Wiluna. 1914 Post Office Directory lists Reg Dutton as being a farmer in Armadale, although he disappears from the directory until 1920 when he reappears in Armadale as a farmer once again.
War Service
Following three months general training at Blackboy Hill Reg was allocated to No 6 Tunnelling Company and travelled to England with 1,110 other tunnellers for further training. Their voyage saw them arrive in Durban on 16 Jun 1916, Capetown 21 Jun 1916, St Vincent 7 July 1916, and Plymouth on 18 Jul 1916. The next day they entrained for Tidworth where they undertook specialist training.
On 21 Sep 1916 he proceeded overseas to France, and on 26 Oct 1916 he was attached to the 1st Canadian Tunnelling Coy, with whom he served until Jan 1917.
Released by the Canadians, he transferred on 31 Jan 1917 to the 3rd Tunnelling Company. When given leave in Oct 1917 he overstayed by 4 days, and forfeited 15 days pay as a result.
Discharged 5th Mil District 22 Aug 1919.
Post War
Reg married Amy Maria Candish (1888-19 Jan 1939) in Fremantle during 1920. 1925 to 1943 electoral rolls list him as a farmer from Armadale (Eighth Road).
The Late Mrs. Dutton - We have also sadly to record the passing of Mrs. Reg. Dutton, of 8th Rd, Armadale. Mrs. Dutton was a live member of a number of organisations in the district, including the local lodge, the Women's Auxiliary of R.S.L., Mother's Union, and the Armadale Choral Society. Her cheery manner and infectious laugh endeared her to everyone, and dismay was registered when it became known about three weeks ago that what was thought to be a minor malady had been diagnosed as the dreaded cancer. She kept up her brightness to the last, passing out quietly at St. John of God's hospital at Belmont early on Sunday, January 29.[1]
Reg retired and moved with 2nd wife Daisy Ruth to Mandurah in June 1948, initially living in the Caravan Park (1949) and then by 1954 at 54 Tuckey street, Mandurah.
Westfield Notes - Mr. and Mrs. Reg Dutton were presented with a cheque at a farewell party held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. A. Brown, on May 14.[2]
