Robert enlisted while residing at Canning Dam on 23 Jul 1940 and was a member of the 13th Training Battalion at the time he transferred from the 2nd AIF to the Militia (CMF) on 18/19 Feb 1941. AT the time of his discharge on 13 Nov 1945 he was a Warrant Officer Class 2, member of the staff of the 4th Australian Recruit Training Battalion.
