Pre War
On enlistment in the RAAF, Stewart declared that he had previously served in the RANR (Navy Reserve) for six months
War Service
On 9 Oct 1942, 18 year old Stewart enlisted in the RAAF at No. 4 RAAF Recruiting Centre, and he was mustered as a General Hand V. Later that day he was sent to the No. 4 Recruit Depot RAAF to undertake some basic drill training before being posted on 1 Jan 1943 to No. 10 Stores Depot RAAF in Maylands.
