During 1933 Talbot married Margaret Joy Ottaway (1910 - 1998) in St Mary's Kelmscott.

Talbot took over the family property "Sunnyside"; a property fronting the Canning River with the then Roleystone Road, later River Road and now Brookton Highway as road frontage, on the death of his father in 1963. The property consisted of an extensive mixed orchard including stone and citrus fruits as well as a large wire-netted bird proof enclosure which ran from the road to the river where table grapes were grown. Milk, cream and butter were also produced.
