On 7 Dec 1911, nine year old Thomas arrived in Fremantle aboard SS Zealandic from Liverpool. His father, mother and older brother and sister accompanied him.
During 1929 Tom married Gladys Rita Retallack (1907 - 1981). They had 4 children including James (Jim) Stanley Russell (1930 - 2015) and Thomas Ernest Russell (1939 - )
