Brief History

Raised at Swan barracks in October 1940. In January 1942 a section accompanied Special Mobile Force to Moora. When Western Command became 3rd Australian Corps in April, the Western Command Provost Company moved to Fremantle in May and then to Perth Oval in June before being re-designated as 3rd Australian Corps Provost Company in July 1942. In February 1943 they rotated to Geraldton, but were back at Perth Oval by April. In July they moved to Bushmead, and in April 1944 to Guildford.

With the reduced number of troops in Western Australia, they absorbed the 1st Armoured Brigade's Provost Platoon and moved to Queensland in September. Following a period of pre-embarkation leave they moved to Lae in New Guinea in November, relieving the NT Force Provost Company. They remained i Lae until the end of the war, but had a detachment at Labu and another in Finschhafen in June 1945.
