War Service

Allocated to the Remount Unit in the Guildford training camp before being sent to Maribyrnong in Victoria for further training. Bill served in Egypt only. Promoted Corporal on 12 Nov 1915 (acting Cpl from 1 Nov 1915).

On 10 Feb 1916 at Maadi south of Cairo he was drunk while on parade, earning him a reprimand. He was seconded to the Anzac Police Corps from 7 Apr 1916 till 26 Apr 1916 when he rejoined the Remount unit at Heliopolis.

Hospitalised in 3rd Australian General Hospital at Abbassia on 28 Aug 1916, and treated until 22 Sep 1916 when it is decided he was to return to Australia for medical discharge - old injury to leg (Synovitis - ankle).

Discharged 5th Military District 21 Nov 1916.
