Brief History

Authorised to be raised in July 1942, it was , however, not until October before a previous nit was split to form both the 8th and 9th Lines of Communication provost Companies at Redfern. The 8th Line of Communication Provost Company then moved to Newcastle, New South Wales with detachments at Maitland and Cooks Hill. From December 1943 they also had detachments in Sydney, and by January 1945 the Company HQ element had moved to Redfern where it remained for the rest of the war.
