Pre War

During 1930 Cyril married Ida Miriam Smith (1911 - 2002). Electoral Roll entries: 1931 at 53 Anstey street, South Perth, butcher; 1937 - 1943 at 85 Dunedin street, Mt Hawthorn, butcher;

War Service

On 12 Nov 1940 Cyril enlisted in the CMF and was allocated to the Western Command Supply Depot, employed as a Trade Group III Butcher. On 19 Apr 1941 he was promoted Corporal, and in August was granted two weeks leave. On 16 Oct 1941 he was transferred to the Western Command Meat Depot, and on 16 Oct 1941 to the 8th Supply Personnel Company. From 12 -26 Jul 1942 he attended a course at the AASC School in West Midland, Joined the 2nd AIF on 10 Aug 1942, and on 2 Oct 1942 he was promoted Acting Sergeant. This rank was confirmed on 8 Jan 1943.


On 10 Mar 1944 Cyril was transferred to the 13th Australian Field Butchering Platoon, and then on 28 Aug 1944 to the 12th Australian Field Butchering Platoon in the Northeren Territory arriving there on 29 Sep 1944, remaining with them until 19 Oct 1945 when he was posted to the Western Command Recruit Reception & General Details Depot where he was discharged on 8 Nov 1945
