War Service

Eric enlisted in the Militia on 3 Mar 1941 at Collie and was allocated to the 7th Heavy Brigade RAA . Eric was called up for full time duty on 2 Jul 1941 and transferred with his unit to Darwin on 29 Dec 1941. On 28 Jan 1942 he was transferred to the 14th Anti-Aircraft Battery serving as an ammunition loader on a 3.7 inch Anti aircraft gun at Fanny Bay. On 18 Jun 1942 he enlisted as a member of the 2nd AIF.


On 12 Feb 1943 Eric entrained in Darwin with his battery for New South Wales arriving there on the 24th. From 2 Apr - 17 May 1943 Eric enjoyed a period of 'Tropical Leave' in NSW before being transferred on 4 Aug 1943 to the 54th Australian Compsite Anti-Aircraft Regiment at Wallgrove, posted to the 134th Australian Heavy Anti-Aircraft Battery. He had been granted Proficiency pay from 1 Jul 1943. During this time in NSW (16 Oct 1943 ??) Eric married Rita Gwendoline who was living at 322 Liverpool road, Enfield. On 1 Nov 1943 Eric was again bound for the Northern Territory with his new unit, and they arrived there on 16 Nov 1943.


On 5 Jul 1944 Eric was a Trade Grade II Predictor, and remained with his unit until 28 Sep 1945 when he was posted to the 1st Australian Base Depot in NSW. On 1 Oct 1945 he was posted to the NSW Line of Communication General Details Depot for redeployment. However, on 23 Nov 1945 he was discharged as part of the general demobilisation.

Post War

Eric married Pte NF450976 Rita Gwendoline (nee Noble) (1924 - 1995) at Burrowa in New South Wales during 1943.

In AUg 1984 they were living at 1 Butler avenue, Bossley Park, NSW and in 2000 n Kincumber, NSW.
