Pre War
Joseph had completed Junior Technical School equivalent to eigth standard.
War Service
Joseph enlisted in the RAAF at the No. 4 RAAF Recruiting Centre on 22 Dec 1944, mustered as a Cook's Assistant TG V. On 29 Dec 1944 he was transferred to No. 4 Recruit Depot RAAF to undertake No. 294 Recruits Drill Course. On 3 Feb 1944 he was posted to RAAF Base Pearce and he remained with them until he was transferred on 16 Jun 1945 to No. 1 School of Technical Training RAAF in Melbourne to complete the No. 287 Trainee Cooks Course which ran between 1 Jul and 22 Sep 1945.
Following the completion of hostilities demobilisation of most of the service members, Joseph on 12 Mar 1946 enlsted for two years in what was known as the Interim Airforce. On 8 Nov 1945 Joseph was posted to No. 5 Personnel Depot RAAF in Perth before moving on to No. 79 Operational Base Unit RAAF in Broome, Western Australia on 14 Nov 1945. Joe remained with them until 6 Mar 1946 when he was transferred to No. 6 Central Reserve RAAF. On 24 Jun 1946 he was posted to HQ North West Area RAAF, but was moved on to RAAF Base Darwin on 2 Jul 1946. His next posting was to RAAF Base Pearce. On 25 Nov 1947 he was transferred to No. 10 Stores Depot RAAF at Merredin. Finally on 19 Mar 1948 Joseph was sent to No. 5 Personnel Depot RAAF to prepare for his discharge which occurred on 5 Apr 1948.
Post War
Discharge address was 21 Sussex street, Victoria Park. Electoral Roll entries: 1954 - 1958 at 126 Federal street, Narrogin, cleaner; 1968 at 42 Fairway street, Narrogin, fireman; 1968 - 1972 at 21 Sussex street, Victoria Park, storeman; 1977 - 1980 at 189 Kooyong road, Rivervale, trade assistant.
