His records show that he was moved to Morotai and served with his Special Force unit outside Australian teritory from 2 Jun 1945 until 8 Oct 1945. On his return, 4 Nov 1945, he was posted to the [[Western Command Recruit Reception & General Details Depot]] for reallocation. Mervyn enlisted in the part time CMF at Armadale on 21 Oct 1941 and was called up for full time service on 5 Jan 1942. His inital unit was the 10th Australian Light Horse Regiment ww2 at Bunbury, later moving to Wanneroo. On 30 Jan 1942, with his unit known as 10th Australian Reconnaissance Battalion, he was charged with being AWOL from 1:00am 25 Jan 1942 to 12:45am 26 Jan 1942. He was awarded two days Confined to Barracks and the forfeiture of a day's pay. Mervyn was allocated to A Company of the reconnaissance unit. On 10 Aug 1942 Mervyn enlists in the 2nd AIF with a new regimental number of WX27250.
