Pre War

During 1908 Eric had married Louisa Jane Kramer in the Blackwood district of WA. Electoral Roll entries - 1903 Balingup, labourer; 1916 at 236 Perth street, Subiaco, railway employee

War Service

Entered Blackboy Hill camp on 16 Oct 1916 and on 11 Nov 1916 was allocated to the 6th reinforcement draft for the 44th Battalion. He travelled with the draft to England, where on arrival they were sent to the 11th Training Battalion at Lark Hill, before being moved to Sutton Manderville.

By 11 Jun 1917 his health issue had come to a head and he was transferred to No 2 Command Depot in Weymouth to prepare for return to Australia.

On return to Australia spent some time in the 8th Australian General Hospital in Fremantle before being discharged by the 5th Military District on 4 Oct 1917 for medical reasons.

Post War

A daughter Ida Doreen bell was born in Toodyay during 1927.
