Pre War

Married Vera Ellen Yates on 11 Nov 1934 in the Canning district. Electoral Roll entries: 1934 - 1943 at Eighth road, Armadale, farm hand

War Service

Enlisted in Armadale on 22 Apr 1942 with Army No W67680, and taken on strength by the 2nd (Fremantle) VDC Battalion the same day. On 6 Nov 1943 his Army No was changed to W62259.


Melville was discharged at his own request on 7 Feb 1944 at South Perth. Medical records indicate earlier kidney problems, and on enlistment he had answered yes to question about Neurasthenia or Nervous Breakdown. He also answered yes as having bullet wounds to both legs in 1941.

Post War

Electoral Roll entries: 1949 at 38 Mabel street, North Perth, storekeeper; 1954 - 1968 at 200 Jersey street, Wembley, storekeeper; 1972 - 1980 at 7 Bermuda road, Waikiki.
