Pre War
On 7 Apr 1945 Arthur married Alma Kniest Morrell (1915 - 1976) in the Wesley Church, Perth. Alma died on 1 Oct 1976 in Dalkeith.

War Service
On 19 Apr 1942 Arthur enlisted in the Volunteer Defence Corps and was allocated to the 13th (Moora) VDC Battalion where on 12 Aug 1942 he was appointed Lance Corporal. However on 4 May 1943 he was reduced to Private "by order of the Commanding Officer". Arthur was struck off strength on 6 Sep 1943.
