On 22 Feb 1944 Albert was transferred to the 3rd Australian Corps Training Centre (Jungle Warfare). Back with the 10th Light Horse he was again AWOL for 2 days earning a £3 ($6) fine and loss of two days pay, before entraining on 12 May 1944 for New South Wales. On arrival (28th May) he was with the [[1st Australian Base Depot - Personnel]], before being sent to the [[16th Australian Infantry Training Battalion]] at Bathurst on 7 Jun 1944. On 19 Jan 1945 Albert has been seen by a Medical Board and was reclassified as 'B2', which resulted in him being sent back to Western Australia where as a result of an accident while with the [[Western Command Recruit Reception & General Details Depot]] he was hospitalised between the 18th and 25th of April in the [[110th Australian Base Hospital]] with second degree burns. Recovered he was discharged on 21 May 1945.

During early 1940 Albert married Evelyn Mary Thompson (1922 - 2013) in the local area. Electoral Roll entries: 1943 at Fremantle road, Armadale, labourer.

War Service

Original enlistment was part time in the CMF at Victoria Park with the 10th Australian Light Horse Regiment ww2 from 8 Aug 1940. He was allocated to the HQ Squadron, Machine Gun Troop. From 7 Jul 1941 until 4 Oct 1941 he was in training camp and then on 17 Dec 1941 he was called up for full time service. Albert was then granted LWOP from 16 Jan until 28 Jul 1942 as he had skills that qualified as Essential Services.
