Pre War

Pre enlistment was a carpenter living in Jarrahdale.

War Service

Records relating to Angus' early training in Australia and Egypt are missing. On 18 Oct 1915 he embarked from Alexandria on HMT Kalyan for Mudros where he was taken on strength by the 16th Battalion on 23 Oct 1915. Angus returned to Alexandria on HMAT A11 Ascanius, disembarking on 30 Dec 1915.

On 1 Jun 1916 his unit was embarked on HMT Canada and they disembarked in Marseilles on 9 Jun 1916.

From 28 May 1917 until 17 Jul 1917 he was absent from the unit with gonorrhoea being treated in Boulogne and then by the 39th General Hospital in Le Havre (32 days ineffective). 12 days after rejoining the unit he was re-admitted to hospital with VD until 25 Aug 1917 (19 days ineffective). The next time he rejoined the battalion, on 25 Aug 1917, they were at Dranoutre south west of Ypres near the border with France where they were re-equipping and reorganising.

On 25 Oct 1917 he was granted leave, and while in the UK on 17 Oct 1918 he married Annie Eliza Beckett from Hull. He rejoined his battalion after his leave on 9 Nov 1917 and remained with them until his next leave from 7 Oct 1918 - 23 Oct 1918.

On 23 Jan 1919 he returned to England for the last time, to prepare for his return to Australia.

Discharged 5th Military District 3 Jun 1919.

Post War

Electoral Roll entries - 1921 carpenter in Jarrahdale; 1922 at Swan Mills, a carpenter

LINDT. — The Friends of the late Angus Lindt, carpenter, late of Busselton, and formerly of Jarrahdale, are respectfully invited to follow his remains to the place of internment, the Anglican Cemetery, Karrakatta. The Funeral is appointed to leave the Private Mortuary of Messrs. C. H. Smith and Co., 281 Newcastle-street, Perth, at 2.30 o'clock THIS (Monday) AFTERNOON, per road. Friends wishing to attend the Funeral may proceed by the 3 p.m. train leaving Perth.[1]

Notes

There is no evidence that Annie ever came to Australia as Angus did not travel on a ship reserved for families. He died in 1924, and there are no records of any person with his surname being born, marrying or dying in WA other than himself.
