Mr and Mrs Alexander Fancote, of Kelmscott, and Forrest New Downs, Buckingham, entertained about 50 guests at Covent Garden on Saturday at a party to celebrate the coming-of-age of their daughter, Beatrice Mary. In the absence of Dr Streich, the toast of the guest of honour was proposed by Mr. Eric Everett, whose remarks were supported by Mr. W. Millett (Armadale), to which Miss Fancote and her father both responded. Vocal and instrumental items were given during the evening by Mrs. Eric Everett and Miss Peggy Goldstone: Messrs Horace Dean, Roger Wirth and Ralph Lang. Beatrice enlisted on 24 May 1943 at No. 1 RAAF Recruiting Centre in Melbourne and was posted to the RAAF School of Administration at Trinity Collee, Carlton the same day. Her enlistment record lists special qualifications as Plays piano, Fire fighting (Singapore), 1st Aide under Wartime conditions, speaks Malay. Beatrice was mustered as a Trainee Officer.
