On 14 Jul 1911 the ''SS Ashburton'' sailed from London carrying 2 month old John and his parents and older sibling Charles.

During 1940 John married Ursula Johanna Doering (1910 - 1987) in the local district. Ursula died on 14 Dec 1987 at Mandogalup. Children Anthony David, Barbara Mae, Wendy Katharina
