On 20 Jun 1941 Max married Violet Winifred Bell (1922 - 2012) in Kelmscott. They had two daughters.

War Service

On 3 Jun 1942 Max was AWOL for a time, earning him a 10/- ($1) fine and loss of a days Pay (6/- or 60 cents). His March 1943 misdemeanor resulted in a fine of 30/- ($3) and one in April 1944 20/- ($2). On 12 May 1944 Max boarded a train for the eastern seaboard, arriving at the 1st Australian Base Depot - Personnel on 28 May 1944.
