After three months at Blackboy Hill camp, Sid was allocated to the 19th reinforcement draft for the 16th Battalion and travelled with them to England as an acting Corporal. On arrival in England he was sent to the 4th Training Battalion at Codford on 25 Sep 1916 for war preparedness training.
