Brief History

This unit was raised at the Sydney Showgrounds in January 1942, and it moved to Singleton in February. In April it had moved again, this time to Tamworth where it opened with 500 bed capacity to work with the 102nd Australian General Hospital until they moved to Lae in New Guinea in November 1943. In October 1944 they were split to form the new 115th Australian Convalescent Depot which then moved to Jacquinot Bay on New Britain. The 112th Australian Convalescent Depot continued to work from Lae until the end of the war.
