Brief History

Formed at Broadmeadows, Victoria in August 1942 as No 2 Sub Depot, 1 Base ordnance Depot. With the re-organisation in early 1943 of ordnance stores, it was renamed 2nd Australian Base Ordnance Depot to control all clothing and general stores for all advanced depots. By October, with headquarters in Queen street, Melbourne, the unit had sections at Broadmeadows, Seymour and Kyneton in addition to Melbourne. In July 1945 the headquarters unit had moved to Broadmeadows, and the unit continued to control all clothing and general stores until the end of the war.
