Brief History

In August 1942 No 3 Sub Depot' of 1st Australian Base Depot became a separate accounting unit with their HQs at Albury in New South Wales, controlling armaments and technical stores. In early 1943 the Ordnance Depots were again re-organised, with 3rd Australian Base Ordnance Depot emerging from No 3 Sub Depot. Their role was to control all armament and technical stores in all advanced depots. They also had an out posted section at Seymour by October 1943. The following month the ordnance stores companies were disbanded, with detachments rejoining their HQ elements. In February 1945 the Depot HQ moved to Bandiana from where they continued to control stocks of Armamen and technical stores in all the depots until the end of hostilities.
