Brief History

From December 1940 a small Discharge Details Depot had operated within the Eastern Command General Details Depot at teh RAS Showgrounds in Moore Park, Sydney to process troops being discharged from the army on medical and other grounds. With the increase in men to be discharged under the 'points system', they had become a separate unit from July 1945, known as the NSW Line of Communication Area Discharge Depot with the aim of handling the discharge/demobilisation of the army at the conclusion of hostilities. The unit contained a Holding unit, a Cash Office, a Rehabilitation unit and a Vocational Guidance unit.
