Brief History

The AIF Training Camp at Northam in April 1942sent a one company strong special force to defend teh Pearce RAAF base during April 1942 to relieve the Special Mobile Force which had been deployed elsewhere. In May a reorganisation of training units saw them renamed as Recruit Training Battalion (3rd Detachment). Withthe arrival of the 2nd Australian Infantry Division from Sydney in July it is probable that they then returned to Northam and training. A detachment from the unit is recorded as having spent time at the Busselton Advanced Ordnance Depot.
