Brief History

In April 1942 the AIF Training Camp at Northam sent a Company sized special force called No 3 Special Detachment AIF to defend the Pearce RAAF Base after the Special Mobile Force had been sent to Moora. Due to the rationalisation of recruit units in May 1942, they became the Recruit Training Battalion (No3 Detachment). Few records exist, but it is likely that they were withdrawn after the arrival in WA during July of troops that had returned from the Middle East.

A detachment from this unitis also listed as taking over responsibility for the defence of the Advanced Operational Base at Busselton in April 1942.
