During 1939 he was a student at the Byford (Beenup) school, living at Cardup.
War Service
On 19 Jan 1945 Malcolm enlisted in the RAAF at No. 4 RAAF Recruiting Centre in Perth, mustered as a Trainee TG V. He was sent to No. 5 Personnel Depot RAAF's Reception unit the same day and remained there until 26 Jan 1945 when he was posted to No. 4 Recruit Depot RAAF to undergo Recruit Drill Course No B296. On 9 Mar 1945 he was posted to No. 4 School of Technical Training RAAF, where he completed the No 46 Clerks Course training, and was on 12 May 1945 remustered as an Airforce Clerk TG IV. On 17 May 1945 Malcolm was posted to Works Training Unit RAAF
On 21 Dec 1945 malcolm was transferred to the Records Section of Airforce Headquarters, and he remained withthem until 17 Jul 1946 when he was transferred to No. 5 Personnel Depot RAAF to undergo discharge on 22 Jul 1946.
Post War
Electoral Roll entries: 1949 at Byford, ammunition assistant; 1954 - 1980 at 7 Kintail road, Canning Bridge, clerk.
27 year old M.T. Kitching arrived at Fremantle on 18 Mar 1954 having boarded the SS Arcadia in Tilbury, London for Australia. He is listed on the Manifest as a Navy clerk.

While RAAF records list him as Malcolm Trevor Kitching, Electoral Rolls and shipping manifests list him as Trevor Malcolm Kitching.
