On entry to the RAAF his occupation is recorded as Junior Electrician. He had previously attended the Carmel State School from June 1936 until June 1938. Bill's father was a Ranger at the Canning Dam.
War Service
Bill enlisted in the RAAF at No. 4 Recruit Depot RAAF on 1 Aug 1942 aged 18, and was mustered as a Trainee Electrician. On 1 Nov 1942 having completed his entry drill training he was posted to the No. 4 School of Technical Training RAAF in Adelaide. On 14 Jan 1943 he was transferred again, this time to No. 3 School of Technical Training RAAF at Ultimo in Sydney to undergo a course for Wireless Assistants.
