War Service

Gerrie's records are incomplete, with only his enlistment and discharge details on filr..

On entering Blackboy Hill camp, Gerrie was allocated to the 7th reinforcement draft for the 11th Battalion. However he was later re-allocated to the 2nd reinforcement draft for the 28th Battalion, travelling with them to Egypt. Gerrie's records do not tell us if he was taken on strength by the 28th Battalion, but given that he was in Egypt from early August 1915 until 20 January 1916, it is likely that he was, and training in the desert exposed his health problem.

On 20 Jan 1916 it was decided to send him home to recover from rheumatism, but he was not discharged by the 5th Military District until 24 Jan 1917, so he may have spent time in and out of hospital in Fremantle prior to discharge.

Post War

In 1920, Gerrie married Florence Jane Yendle in Fremantle. Florence died 16 Nov 1955 at Nedlands aged 70.
