The Late Mr. T. E. T. Marshall.[1]The funeral of the late Mr. Thomas Edward Tyrell Marshall, builder, of Second-avenue, Kelmscott, who passed away suddenly on Monday last took place in the Church of England Cemetery, Kelmscott, on Wednesday and was largely attended. Deceased, who was only 52 years of age, was born in Yorkshire, England, and, with the exception of his service in the Great War, had resided in this State for the past 27 years. Coming to Kelmscott and residing there for the past 20 years, he became a well-known and highly respected citizen of the district. He was a devoted husband, loving father and sincere friend to all, and a sincere appeal to him for help for those less fortunate never fell on deaf ears.
Although a busy man, he always found time for the welfare of the different organisations of the district. Among the many movements for which he worked enthusiastically were the boy scout troop, his Church (where he attended regularly), the Masonic Order, the Returned Soldiers' League, and the 8th Battery Association. Always of a cheerful and helpful disposition, his sudden calling to higher service will be sadly regretted, not only by his near relatives but by his many friends, and the district will be the poorer for his passing. The lengthy cortege, with the hearse a mass of floral tributes, moved from his late residence, Second-avenue. Kelmscott, and proceeded to the Church of England Cemetery, where, after the last rites of the church were celebrated and a most impressive address delivered by the Rev. J. W. Budge (rector of Armadale), his remains were laid to rest, the casket being preceded to the grave by members of Troop 85 Boy Scouts.
The chief mourners were Mrs A. E. Marshall (widow), Miss Doris Marshall (daughter), Master Adrian Marshall (son), Mrs. A. E. Marshall, England (mother). Mr. and Mrs. A. Marshall (brother and sister in-law), William, George and Norman (England), brothers. Mr. and Mrs. D. Price and Miss Curedale (friends). The pall-bearers were Messrs. F. A. Congdon (representing Lodge Perseverance), H.L. Saw, Viv. Ogilvie (representing 8th Battery Association). E. C. Molyneux, H. M. Rose, and J. Morris.
